This concert is all about beautiful sounds. The Amsterdam Symphonic Band performs works by Paul Creston (marimba concerto with soloist Bauke Goede), James Barnes (Paganini variations) and Eric Whitacre (Equus).
The Roman Ensemble will take care of half of the concert. This ensemble plays music from the Balkans and the Black Sea area. The repertoire includes songs from, for example, Turkey, Macedonia and Azerbaijan. With their music they convey the joy, melancholy and energy of Eastern Europe. The orchestra and ensemble will perform the work Čačak together.
The Roman Ensemble was founded in 2002 by Emirhan Tuğa. He gathered a group of young musicians together and introduced them to the music from the Balkans and the Black Sea area. What was intended as a temporary project grew into a close-knit ensemble that could celebrate its twentieth anniversary in 2022. The Roman Ensemble, together with Roman Oro, is part of the Roman Amsterdam Music Association.
